# Alex Eats Too Much > Sharing my love of food in Pittsburgh, whether you care or not. ## Posts - [AlexEatsTooMuch December 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/12/alexeatstoomuch-december-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): Typically, December is a busy month. However, this year was actually quite quiet for me, aside from a couple of big meals and events. The biggest deal is that I attended the Governor’s Content Creator Holiday Party again this year. Part of that event trip, I got to spend time in Hershey with some of my creator friends. I also spent a day in Greensburg with a group of creators. I visited a few more Christmas bars. I did a lot of organizing and planning for 2026. Restaurants I started the month at Club Café in Southside. They now have… - [AlexEatsTooMuch 2025 Recap and 2026 Goals](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/12/alexeatstoomuch-2025-recap-and-2026-goals): In 2025, Alex Eats Too Much has been in existence for 8 years. I started this as an image journal on Instagram of the food I was eating. I had hopes people would discover my Instagram and blog, and I could change my career. Over the course of the last year, I decided it was finally time to make that change, making the leap to have Alex Eats Too Much be my full time job. If you didn’t see, I quit my job and bet on myself. It’s been three months since I quit, and it’s going just ok. I… - [Alex Eats Too Much Favorite Restaurants: Chinatown Inn](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/12/alex-eats-too-much-favorite-restaurants-chinatown-inn): I’m regularly asked what my favorite restaurant is in Pittsburgh. The answer is Chinatown Inn downtown. I’ve been eating here for 17 years, since before I officially moved to Pittsburgh, and it’s the only restaurant I can say I still go to often after all these years. They feature Cantonese, Szechuan, and Hunan dishes and flavors. I first discovered this restaurant when I came to Pittsburgh as an intern. One of my new intern friends was brought here by his coworker. Then, he introduced this gem of a restaurant to me. There were periods of time when I still worked… - [AlexEatsTooMuch November 2025 Food and Events Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/11/alexeatstoomuch-november-2025-food-and-events-roundup): I spent November in Pittsburgh. I didn’t go to many new restaurants during November. That’s not such a good idea for someone who is trying to become a FOOD and travel content creator. That’s not such a good idea for someone who is trying to become a food and TRAVEL content creator. What I did in November was enjoy some great meals, visit several holiday pop-up bars (see the end), attend another bucket list concert, and catch up on a ton of content. I actually finished content I shot this summer from Happy Valley, Boyertown, and Gettysburg this month which… - [AlexEatsTooMuch October 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/10/alexeatstoomuch-october-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): One month down as a full time content creator. After I finished writing this, I realized I did a hell of a lot in October. It was nice not putting off life due to a full time corporate job taking more and more time. I also spent October still trying to catch up, editing content that I had filmed over the summer. Luckily, I think I’m almost done, but that also means content with me wearing shorts and t-shirts will be getting shared in November. Being self-employed has also made me realize I can truly set my own schedule or… - [AlexEatsTooMuch September 2025 Food and Events Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/09/alexeatstoomuch-september-2025-food-and-events-roundup): What a crazy month?!?! I did so much in September this year. The most important thing was that I quit my job to become a full time content creator.  After 16 years working a corporate job, I decided it was time to give making videos and working with businesses and events a shot full time. Even though I took quite the pay cut, I am so much happier. I’m trying to catch up on content I shot months ago and actively seek new partnerships. The other big thing in September was I was an organizer of the first BaconBurgh Festival.… - [AlexEatsTooMuch August 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/09/alexeatstoomuch-august-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): August has been insanely busy. I celebrated 8 years of Alex Eats Too Much. I ate a lot of great meals this month. I attended two beer festivals. I went out of town three times. I checked off a bucket list concert. I’ve been setting up a lot of great plans for things coming up the rest of the year. I’ve been busy with BaconBurgh, and can’t wait for that on Sept. 27. I also agreed to do a Hot Ones style hot sauce tasting at Pittsburgh Rivers of Fire Hot Sauce Festival on Oct 4. Pittsburgh Restaurants I went… - [AlexEatsTooMuch July 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/08/alexeatstoomuch-july-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): This was an exhausting month. July had a lot going on. I had some really exciting partnerships. I spent 3 days in Happy Valley again. I attended an awesome Sheetz event. I announced the launch of the Bacon Burgh festival with the team behind Beers of the Burgh. I had a few amazing meals. I also spent a lot of time working. I know the rest of 2025 is only going to get even busier. Restaurants We did a birthday dinner at Alla Famiglia. This is one of my favorite special occasion restaurants in Pittsburgh. It’s a high end Italian… - [AlexEatsTooMuch June 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/06/alexeatstoomuch-june-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): How is 2025 already halfway over? June felt very busy, and yet I didn’t feel like I did a whole lot either. I ate a few great meals. I went to a bunch of great events. I was in Happy Valley again this month for a camping trip with Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and other content creators. I also took another quick trip to Cleveland for an awesome event. However, I also spent a lot of time in June working, which is always less fun than restaurants and events. Restaurants I learned how to make some refreshing cocktails at the… - [Tasting the World at the Kennywood Bites and Pints Festival](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/06/tasting-the-world-at-the-kennywood-bites-and-pints-festival): Updated June 2, 2025. Last updated May 25, 2022. Everyone loves Kennywood. It’s such a great hometown Pittsburgh amusement park. I definitely don’t get there enough. They have fantastic wooden roller coasters. Unfortunately, I never get there enough. However, Kennywood gave me another great reason to go with the introduction of their new Bites and Pints Food & Drink Festival. Starting May 23 thru June 29, 2025, on Friday to Sunday, Kennywood will have chef-inspired cuisine from around the world available in the park. I’ve updated this for 2025 after getting to preview it again. Full disclosure, Kennywood asked me to… - [AlexEatsTooMuch May 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/06/alexeatstoomuch-may-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): My monthly roundups have been getting shorter lately. I have been spending a lot of time at home the last few months, except for a big travel event each month and a few other events. Hopefully, that changes in June. For now, May started with a trip to Greenville, SC hosted by Visit Greenville SC. After that, I attended several really cool events, but didn’t go to many restaurants. Restaurants I ate at Meat & Potatoes downtown for the first time in a long time. I ordered one of my favorite things on their menu, the Double Cut Pork Chop.… - [AlexEatsTooMuch Attends the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/05/alexeatstoomuch-attends-the-international-pizza-expo-in-las-vegas): For years now, I have been watching Pittsburgh pizza community attending the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. This is a multiday event held every year in March, gathering pizza makers and vendors celebrating all things pizza. There are competitions, demos, seminars, networking opportunities, and exhibitors selling products. In talking to many of the Pittsburgh pizza community, they finally convinced me it was time to attend the Pizza Expo. I do not own a pizza shop, but I thought it would be a great experience, especially as someone who is an outsider looking in on the industry. This is technically… - [AlexEatsTooMuch April 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/05/alexeatstoomuch-april-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): I started April out of town and ended April, like most of Pittsburgh, without power. It was a busy month with my full time job and trying to get some YouTube videos created. I’m trying to do more long form videos again. I was in New Orleans for a work conference, but unfortunately didn’t get to leave the hotel much during that time. I did check off a couple of restaurants I’ve never been to as well, which was fun to do. Restaurants My first Pittsburgh “restaurant” of the month was Manny’s BBQ at PNC Park. No matter how many… - [AlexEatsTooMuch March 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/03/alexeatstoomuch-march-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): I nearly spent more time away from Pittsburgh in March than I did in Pittsburgh. My in Pittsburgh activities in March weren’t the highlights of my month. I didn’t eat out too much. I went to one event. However, I went on three trips in March. Two of them were meant to help me continue advancing as a content creator. The third trip was for the full time job, but I had a little bit of free time.  Restaurants I went to happy hour with my friend Michelle at Ritual House Downtown. This was completely unplanned, but I needed a… - [AlexEatsTooMuch February 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/03/alexeatstoomuch-february-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): I can’t believe it’s only two months into 2025. February is the shortest month of the year, yet it feels like a year long. I’ve gotten to eat a lot of great dinners, mostly featuring Asian cuisine. I went to a couple of really cool events. I’ve also had to deal with a lot of insanity at work. Surprisingly, I was in Pittsburgh for all of February, so no travel section this month. However, I have been working on new blog posts for my travels that will be live soon. I’ve also been working on setting up some really cool… - [AlexEatsTooMuch January 2025 Food, Events and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/02/alexeatstoomuch-january-2025-food-events-and-travel-roundup): I hit the ground running in January. I did so much that I spent time off social media for a week, except to post an occasional story about the cool thing I was doing. January is my birthday month so I always do something big like reserve an entire bar. I also spent a fantastic weekend in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands with a group of great content creators, which I’ll mostly cover in a separate post. I had so much fun doing all the eating and exploring that it’s unfortunate my full time job still keeps me busy too. Restaurants For… - [AlexEatsTooMuch December 2024 Restaurant, Event and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2025/01/alexeatstoomuch-december-2024-restaurant-event-and-travel-roundup): It’s the end of the year, and December has not slowed down. I visited many restaurants. Some of them were really good. I did a bunch of sponsored posts. The holidays are when national PR firms seek the most promotion. I made a trip to Hershey and Harrisburg for a big event. Restaurants & Bars I started December with brunch at Eleven Contemporary Kitchen. They have a fantastic prix fixe that includes a starter, a main, and a drink. I got the Smoked Short Rib and Egg, the Fried Pickle Brined Chicken and Waffle, and a Bloody Mary. I went… - [AlexEatsTooMuch 2024 Recap and 2025 Goals](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/12/alexeatstoomuch-2024-recap-and-2025-goals): This was a big year of growth for AlexEatsTooMuch. In 2024, I expanded my brand to work with more destination offices around Pennsylvania and more national brands. I also did content with the Harris Walz campaign and with Governor Josh Shapiro. Obviously, sharing the awesome meals and events of Pittsburgh is still the primary goal, but I love that I’m getting to experience new things. I saw some growth on Instagram and TikTok. I’m getting better at making videos, but I still can improve. The most frustrating thing is as AlexEatsTooMuch has grown, it has been hard to keep up… - [AlexEatsTooMuch November 2024 Restaurant, Event and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/12/alexeatstoomuch-november-2024-restaurant-event-and-travel-roundup): I spent a full month in Western Pennsylvania for the first time in about six months. Staying in Pittsburgh just meant it was a busy month of dinners and events around the city. I’ve been working on a bunch of partnerships. Some of them are way more exciting than others. This month isn’t without its disappointments. I supported the Harris Walz campaign and proud to have done so, but obviously ended with their losing the election. I was also sick for the last week of the month with a respiratory infection that hit me very suddenly. Restaurants I got dinner… - [AlexEatsTooMuch October 2024 Restaurant, Event and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/11/alexeatstoomuch-october-2024-restaurant-event-and-travel-roundup): October was the busiest month I have had in a long time! I was out of town twice, going to two Harris campaign rallies. While in Pittsburgh, I ate mostly Asian food and chicken wings. Oh, and I also met Governor Shapiro. Some people might have noticed a little bit of a tone shift in my brand lately. I have been doing more travel. I also decided to be a little more political. I know a lot of people did not like both of those things. However, I believe it is the best for me and the best for the… - [AlexEatsTooMuch September 2024 Restaurant, Event and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/09/alexeatstoomuch-september-2024-restaurant-event-and-travel-roundup): I made more of an effort to stay home for much of September. I still got to do a lot of fun stuff. I ate a few nice meals. I went to concerts. I went to some big events. I also felt very burnt out and overwhelmed. I struggled to want to go to events or even hang out with friends. The good news is that I finally feel like I’m starting to work out of that funk and October will have lots of fun stuff happening. Restaurants I spent an evening at Five Iron Golf in Market Square. Honestly,… - [An Afternoon at Liberty Pole Spirits](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/09/an-afternoon-at-liberty-pole-spirits): I spent an afternoon at Liberty Pole Spirits in Washington, Pennsylvania. Whiskey is part of the American heritage, and Liberty Pole Spirits is a family-owned distillery honoring that heritage by producing a great line of whiskeys. They started in 2016 and recently expanded in 2023 to a much larger distillery campus. Their name comes from how some of the first whiskey producers in Washington County in the late 18th century opposed a new tax on whiskey and planted Liberty Poles throughout the county to show their unity and defiance. You can read their full history on their website. I started… - [AlexEatsTooMuch August 2024 Restaurant, Event and Travel Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/09/alexeatstoomuch-august-2024-restaurant-event-and-travel-roundup): I had a few great meals and went on some really cool adventures in August. I returned to a restaurant I had not visited in a long time. I ate at a restaurant that is seeing a new life under a new owner. I attended something that most people would find hard to believe I’ve never done in Pittsburgh. I went on two really amazing trips to Erie and then West Virginia and Virginia. More about that below. This month was all about trying to figure out next steps in the AlexEatsTooMuch brand. Pittsburgh Restaurants I ate at Pusadee’s Garden… - [AlexEatsTooMuch July 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/07/alexeatstoomuch-july-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): July was a whirlwind of dinners, events, travel and unending stress at work. I will only reminisce about three of those four things. I had quite a few good dinners. I went to a couple of concerts. I did a great partnership with Visit Hershey Harrisburg. You can read more about everything I did in Hershey after all the Pittsburgh related fun. I’m also so behind on posting so I know there is stuff in this roundup I haven’t shared to Instagram yet that will get there soon. Restaurants I started the month with a great meal at Meat &… - [AlexEatsTooMuch June 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/06/alexeatstoomuch-june-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): I went into June thinking it would be a pretty laid back month. Instead, I would end up doing something almost every night. I was exhausted by June 10. However, I had a lot of fun in June. It capped off a great first half of this year. Restaurants My first meal of the month was at Alta Via Market Square. One of my favorite items is the Meatballs appetizer. I ordered the Pappardelle with Beef Short Rib Sugo. Alta Via is always a reliable option. I got a burger for lunch at Whiskey B’s. They are doing a weekday… - [AlexEatsTooMuch May 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/06/alexeatstoomuch-may-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): I’m doing too much. I shouldn’t complain but I had weeks full of events. May was so busy. I was mostly in Pittsburgh but made a fun short trip to State College (see the end). Restaurants I got food at Aslin Beer for the first time. I ordered their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. It was a good size sandwich made with chicken thigh meat. I would get it again. I also got a few of their Imperial Stouts. I got dinner at Dancing Gnome and Blue Sparrow twice in one week. First, I went on a Friday evening with my… - [AlexEatsTooMuch April 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/05/alexeatstoomuch-april-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): April was so busy. I had something going on almost every day of the month. I tried a few new restaurants. I got invited to a few awesome events. I made a quick overnight trip to State College. I even got to do a couple of fun paid collaborations. Restaurants I was so busy I didn’t have a meal at a restaurant until the second week of the month. I started off strong with visiting Lawrence Hall, the new food hall in Lawrenceville specifically to try Loaded and Toma, two of the food concepts. They invited me in to try… - [AlexEatsTooMuch March 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/04/alexeatstoomuch-march-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): March was a return to a little more normalcy in my life. I got back to a lot of great restaurants and hit up a bunch of events. I tried some great meals and cocktails. I’m also excited about some of my latest videos doing well on Instagram. It’s been a while since I felt I wasn’t just posting into the abyss. Take a look below at the fun I had over the month. Restaurants I started the month with a Friday dinner at Nanban before a double feature at Row House Cinema Lawrenceville (more on that below). Nanban does… - [AlexEatsTooMuch February 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/03/alexeatstoomuch-february-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): February wasn’t an exciting restaurant and events month for me. Other than going to New York City, I spent most of the month at home. I had a cold and I had a minor medical procedure. So, in February, I think I only ate at a few restaurants and I only ordered takeout a handful of times. Dining Out I started the month at Oak Hill Post for breakfast. They started the special again on their classic breakfast sandwich. This is one of the best breakfast sandwiches in Pittsburgh. I also started the month by going to Big Jim’s in… - [AlexEatsTooMuch January 2024 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/01/alexeatstoomuch-january-2024-restaurant-and-event-roundup): January was a rather slow month overall. I got a cold followed by that weird respiratory thing that was going around. Limited a lot of my fun for the month. Luckily, I was at least sorta healthy for my birthday at the beginning of the month. I finally stopped coughing all the time by the end of the month. Good thing February is looking to be just as slow after the first week. Food I started the year for the 2nd year in a row at the Cinderlands Beer Hair of the Hog pig roast brunch. They put out a… - [Visiting Breweries, Distilleries, and Wineries on the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/01/visiting-breweries-distilleries-and-wineries-on-the-laurel-highlands-pour-tour): I was invited by Go Laurel Highlands to join them for the Pour Tour 4.0 Kickoff Day. Now in its 4th year, the Pour Tour features craft beverage makers in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. The Pour Tour craft beverage passport book has details about the different craft beverage makers in the region. When visiting each location and getting a beverage, you get stickers to add to your passport. The passport is also digital this year and can be found in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Disclosure: Go Laurel Highlands invited me to join them for the… - [December 2023 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2024/01/december-2023-restaurant-and-event-roundup): December was a mostly low-key month for me. I feel like I got busy with other things a couple of times or didn’t feel like going out to dinner. Dining Out I finally ate at Anthos Bakery & Café in Castle Shannon. I only live like 7 minutes from this Greek bakery and café and yet I have not been here. Stacy AKA YinzHungry412 was in the neighborhood and we both wanted to go someplace we had not eaten yet. This was delicious. I got a Croque Madame, but it sounded so good with rosemary ham. It was delicious. I… - [2023 Recap and 2024 Goals](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/12/2023-recap-and-2024-goals): I can’t believe I’m on 6 years of AlexEatsTooMuch. I did a lot in 2023. I saw a lot of growth on Instagram seeing my account almost triple in reach. I started posting more regularly to TikTok and started a YouTube channel. One of the biggest decisions I made was to start focusing on more than just food and restaurants. I burned out a bit just posting about food. I go to a lot of really cool events and concerts around Pittsburgh that others should learn about and have an opportunity to attend in the future. I also started highlighting… - [AlexEatsTooMuch November 2023 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/12/alexeatstoomuch-november-2023-restaurant-and-event-roundup): November was a busy month. I’m structuring this roundup a little differently. I’m going to do a section on Chicago and a section on Holiday Popup Bars since all that content is a significant part of this month. Restaurants I went to Velum Fermentation for the first time. This is a really cool space and a good beer. They have games and pickleball. I forgot to take any photos as I was there for a happy hour. I was at Shorty’s Tap & Taco at The Waterfront for a happy hour event. It was ok. They had 3 brand new… - [AlexEatsTooMuch October 2023 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/11/alexeatstoomuch-october-2023-restaurant-and-event-roundup): October was a crazy busy month. I didn’t think it was until I started writing this post. Suddenly I had 4 1/2 pages in Word. Restaurants & Bars I stopped by Cinderlands Warehouse to preview the food and beer of their Cinderfest celebration. Cinderfest is their version of an Octoberfest celebration. They were featuring German food like kielbasa, bratwurst, knockwurst, pierogi, and potato salad and beer like their Danville Train Lager. The food was great and I wish I could have kept eating and drinking all afternoon. I like the food based events at Cinderlands and wish I could have… - [Visiting Kennywood Park for Phantom Fall Fest](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/10/visiting-kennywood-park-for-phantom-fall-fest): I love that Kennywood Park still has a lot of big rides and attractions, but still has a local amusement park vibe. They have classic rollercoasters, carnival games and great festival style food. I’ve been to Kennywood more in the last few years since I started this journey sharing local food and events on the internet. Kennywood Park invited me again for the evening to experience Phantom Fall Fest including the rides, the haunted houses, the scare zones and their Open Body Dinner Buffet. Full disclosure: Kennywood provided me with admission to the park for Phantom Fall Fest, Speedy Pass… - [AlexEatsTooMuch September 2023 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/10/alexeatstoomuch-september-2023-restaurant-and-event-roundup): Restaurants I checked out Fat Cat in North Side with a group of friends. This is a restaurant featuring bites inspired by after school and late night snacks. We ordered almost the entire menu. My favorite dishes were the grilled bologna sandwich and the loaded waffle fries. A must have item is the Elvis Split dessert. It’s a deep fried PB&J uncrustable with vanilla ice cream, candied bacon caramel and bruleed banana. It’s now one of my favorite desserts in Pittsburgh. I ended up at The Eagle for some after happy hour fried chicken. The place was nearly empty, but… - [AlexEatsTooMuch August 2023 Restaurant and Event Roundup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/09/alexeatstoomuch-august-2023-restaurant-and-event-roundup): I’m starting something new this month. I will post a monthly roundup of all the Restaurants and Events I’ve attended of note in the past month. I feel like I do a bad job sharing things on my website and should do more. I plan to share photos of food or links to the Instagram post featuring the food or event. I hope to get back to more detailed posts about restaurants too if there is something to share. Restaurants I brought my family to Sullivan’s Steakhouse downtown for the first of my Restaurant Week meals. My father and I… - [A Long Weekend Trip to Dublin Ireland](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/04/a-long-weekend-trip-to-dublin-ireland): I recently spent a long weekend in Dublin, Ireland. I’m not Irish, but I’ve heard many great things about visiting Dublin. When a friend asked if I wanted to go on a trip, I figured why not. We were there for just shy of 4 full days. Flying from Pittsburgh required a layover. It was about a total of 10 hours of travel including the layover. I was able to get a little bit of sleep on the plane with the hope I wouldn’t be exhausted when landing in Dublin at 8 AM. If reading is not your thing, I… - [Spending a Night at Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2023/03/spending-a-night-at-nemacolin-resort-in-pennsylvania-laurel-highlands): I recently spent an evening at Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands. Nemacolin is a luxury resort about 90 minutes south of Pittsburgh. Many people recently discovered this resort as it was featured on The Bachelor in 2021. The resort has many things to offer including 5-star hotels, many dining experiences, a spa & wellness center, golf, and a large number of indoor and outdoor experiences for the whole family. These activities are only available to guests staying at the resort and members of their club. The resort has many things to offer including 5-star hotels, many dining experiences, a spa & wellness center, golf, and a large number of indoor and outdoor experiences for the whole family. When I started posting, Instagram was still one photo square posts. I adapted for carousel posts so I could show off more of my meals at once. When Instagram decided to rip off Snapchat with Stories, I started posting previews and sharing other things that didn’t need a full post. Then Instagram copied TikTok with Reels and I started having to make videos. Over the last six months, more of my content has become 30 second videos of my meals and events. I… - [2022 Recap and 2023 Goals](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/12/2022-recap-and-2023-goals): It’s the end of another year. In 2022, I marked off 5 years of AlexEatsTooMuch. At the beginning of the year, it was looking to be a crazy busy year as a food blogger, food enthusiast, and food influencer. I was doing interviews for online magazines and participating in online cooking programs. I even was doing a whole bunch of exciting travel to Italy, NYC, and Chicago letting me eat too much in different locales. Then summer came and I had to put AlexEatsTooMuch on semi-hiatus as I had to deal with a lot of family and work stuff for… - [Attending The Chocolate Bar at the Benedum Event in Pittsburgh](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/12/attending-the-chocolate-bar-at-the-benedum-event-in-pittsburgh): The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust knows how to throw a party. I was invited to attend their event The Chocolate Bar at the Benedum: A Sinful Soirée in November and I had a great time indulging in all the chocolate goodness. I attended The Chocolate Bar back several years ago so I was excited to get this opportunity to go again. As a chocolate lover, I couldn’t wait to the many chocolate creations from local restaurants and chocolatiers. The Chocolate Bar event is just one of the many types of events the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will throw over the years. This… - [Learning How to Make a Twist Bread at Pittsburgh's Mancini's Bakery](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/12/learning-how-to-make-a-twist-bread-at-pittsburghs-mancinis-bakery): Mancini’s Bakery and Mancini’s Bread is probably one of the best known local Pittsburgh brands. It was probably one of the first breads I ate when I moved to Pittsburgh. Typically if I’m looking for a good Italian bread to use for sandwiches, French Toast, garlic bread and recently stuffing, I pick up a loaf of Mancini’s bread. So, I was pretty excited when YaJagoff Podcast invited me to participate in a tour of Mancini’s Bakery in McKees Rocks. All Mancini’s bread is baked at their location in McKees Rocks. They started baking in 1926 and started at the bakery… - [My Favorite Items at Gi-Jin Sushi Bar](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/06/my-favorite-items-at-gi-jin-sushi-bar): Gi-Jin has become one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh over the last year. It’s funny because I did not like sushi until sometime halfway through college. I wasn’t even getting good sushi then. My common order was spicy tuna from the Panda Express Sushi at The Hub at Penn State. This really dates me since they replaced that years ago. Since then I can gladly say my taste in sushi has greatly improved. Now I’m eating unbelievable sushi at trendy restaurants like Gi-Jin by Richard Deschantz Group in the heart of the Downtown Pittsburgh Cultural District alongside their other… - [Craft Spirits and Brunch at Nomad Distilling Co.](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/06/craft-spirits-and-brunch-at-nomad-distilling-co): While driving back from Pittsburgh from Northeast Pennsylvania I took a short detour off I-80 thru farmland and forest to visit Nomad Distilling Co. on the edge of Williamsport in Central PA. This family-owned and operated distillery was purchased and rebranded in 2018 specializing in locally-made craft spirits. They have also renovated the property to update the tasting room and event space to have regular pub food and weekend brunch. This also sounded really cool so I decided to check it out. Nomad Distilling Co. currently specializes in whiskey, bourbon, liqueur, and various flavors of moonshine. Their primary Spirits are… - [Tupelo Honey Cafe Brings Southern Cooking to Pittsburgh](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/01/tupelo-honey-cafe-brings-southern-cooking-to-pittsburgh): I’m very excited about Tupelo Honey Cafe opening in Station Square for so many reasons. This small restaurant chain is based out of Asheville, NC and they are bringing more southern style cooking to Pittsburgh for their currently Northernmost location. Give me fried chicken, fried vegetables, grits, and booze to wash it all down I’m happy. I’m also really excited about the Tupelo Honey Cafe opening because it is a great step towards the new transformation of Station Square. Since I have lived in Pittsburgh I saw this restaurant space sit empty or house mediocre nightclubs. This space now sits… - [Pittsburgh Birthday Freebies](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2022/01/pittsburgh-birthday-freebies): Every year on my birthday, one of the things I look forward to the most is the multiple birthday freebies. You can basically eat for free or for a discount for weeks. I think the most popular is the Starbucks free birthday drink, but there are so many more. Both Pittsburgh based companies and national chains located in Pittsburgh have many great offers. For most of them, you need to be signed up for their emails or rewards programs before your birthday. Below are lists of birthday freebies and offers split into two lists of Pittsburgh based businesses and national… - [2021 was Another Interesting Year for AlexEatsTooMuch](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2021/12/2021-was-another-interesting-year-for-alexeatstoomuch): I had a pretty good year in 2021. I left my house! I ate in a restaurant! I saw people! I spent most of my year in Pittsburgh. Overall it’s been a wild year again starting with barely leaving the house, injuring myself one of the few times I did leave the house, getting vaccinated, going to restaurants and events again, getting surgery, doing a little travel, more eating, and more promotional work. I even did some things for my real job occasionally. I’ll start like every year by checking in on my goals for the year. Gain more Instagram… - [Tasting Lots of Chili at the Pittsburgh Chili Cook-Off](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2021/11/tasting-lots-of-chili-at-the-pittsburgh-chili-cook-off): Update: Unfortunately, this was a one-off event that did not return for a second year. I recently had the pleasure of attending and helping organize the Pittsburgh Young Professionals (PYP) first-ever Pittsburgh Chili Cook-Off. The Pittsburgh Young Professionals is a networking organization with the mission to attract, develop, and retain the future leaders of the Greater Pittsburgh region by enhancing the vitality of the Pittsburgh region by creating a strong community of young professionals. This year the PYP Community Outreach committee decided to add to the Pittsburgh food festival scene by creating a chili cook-off. This is the perfect Fall… - [I Received a Beef Jerky Flower Bouquet from Manly Man Co.](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2021/09/i-received-a-beef-jerky-flower-bouquet-from-manly-man-co): I received a pretty exciting gift the other day. Sitting at my front door was a box from the Manly Man Co. This black cardboard box contained something really cool. I opened the box to find a pint glass and a bag of beef jerky. I love edible gifts! This wasn’t any normal jerky though. This was a beef jerky flower bouquet. I opened the bag of jerky, which was vacuum-sealed for freshness to find a dozen “flowers” with petals made of beef jerky in flavors of original, teriyaki, and hot and stems which are made of a mix of… - [Exciting Indian Food of Kabab & Curry on Pittsburgh's Banksville Road](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2021/08/exciting-indian-food-of-kabab-curry-on-pittsburghs-banksville-road): I’ve been making more of an effort to try more of the restaurants near where I live in the South hills. There are lots of great places to eat in Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, and Brookline. I recently started getting food regularly from Kabab & Curry, an Indian restaurant on Banksville Road just a little past the Ft. Pitt Tunnel. They have quickly become one of my favorite restaurants for a wide range of traditional and modern Punjab Indian and Pakistani cuisine.  The Kabab & Curry menu offers lots of different dishes to satisfy all interests.  Over the last few months,… - [The Eagle Brings More Fried Chicken to Pittsburgh](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2021/05/the-eagle-brings-more-fried-chicken-to-pittsburgh): I’m declaring Pittsburgh a fried chicken town. The Eagle is the latest addition to the many fried chicken joints to open up in the city over the last few years. I welcome this latest addition with open arms and an open mouth. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to try out the food at The Eagle during their soft open. The food was fantastic and not too expensive and the restaurant is well designed with lots of seats ready for a crowd of people to enjoy a good meal. The Eagle is the latest in a small chain… - [How To Start a Food Instagram](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/12/how-to-start-a-food-instagram): I’ve been asked quite a few times how to get started in creating a Food Instagram or a food blog. I had no clue what I was doing when I started my food blog and Instagram in August 2017. I wish I had more of a guide. I did a whole bunch of research on the Pittsburgh Food Instagram scene before I launched trying to make sure there was a place for me to add something new to what I thought was a not so crowded blog and Instagram scene. I was following a few accounts that were regularly posting… - [2020 Needs to End So 2021 Can Be Better Than Meh - A 2020 Recap](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/12/2020-needs-to-end-so-2021-can-be-better-than-meh-a-2020-recap): This year sucks to even try to write about as a recap. This might even read as some kind of rambling compared to other years. 2020 didn’t go as planned for just about everyone. I had a lot of great plans for this year to try to really take my Instagram and blog to the next level. Obviously, March 2020 and Covid-19 hit, destroying all plans for the rest of the year. The concept of being a superfan and promoter of food and restaurants doesn’t matter when restaurants are struggling or not open. As the pandemic continued on, I found… - [My 2020 Blended Burger Entry - A Pizza Burger](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/05/my-2020-blended-burger-entry-a-pizza-burger): Last year, I learned about the James Beard Blended Burger Project. For those that do not know, a blended burger is made with at least 25% mushrooms blended into the meat. Each year there is both a professional chef competition for the best-blended burger as well as an amateur chef competition. Last year I entered the competition with this burger. I decided this year to enter again. I went in a little different direction with a pizza-themed burger. One of my favorite pizza toppings is mushroom so I figured why not try to make it as a burger. My recipe is… - [Eating in Pittsburgh, Now!](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/03/eating-in-pittsburgh-now): Right now, you are probably trying to decide if you’re home 99% of the time for the near future, what are you supposed to do for food. The stay at home restriction Pennsylvania allows you to leave the house for groceries and takeout. You are also able to order delivery for both groceries and many restaurants that are still open. The following will talk about some of the changes and challenges that have occurred and options you may now have to eat. Many small businesses had to shut down with little notice. Small Businesses open and closed can really use… - [New Menu & New Vibe at Jean Louis in Pittsburgh's South Hills](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/03/new-menu-new-vibe-at-jean-louis-in-pittsburghs-south-hills): Update: Jean Louis is no longer open. I felt weird at first that less than a year after my first visit to Jean Louis writing another blog post about the restaurant so soon. I could have just added to my post from last year, but it really didn’t seem right. On my recent visit to Jean Louis, located in Dormont in Pittsburgh’s South Hills, it was such a great and contrasting experience from the last time I decided this required a completely new write up for a few reasons. First, the new Executive Chef, Vincent Capuano has updated the menu.… - [Pittsburgh Fried Chicken List](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/01/pittsburgh-fried-chicken-list): Fried chicken has suddenly become big in Pittsburgh. I’m excited about some of the many new options. It is also one of my favorite foods. I wanted to put together this list for people to see where to go for fried chicken in Pittsburgh, but also so I can track and add to it as I have amazing fried chicken dishes around the city. I know I have many more places to try and look forward to this journey and adding to this list. Please don’t message and yell at me for not including your favorite yet, but please make… - [Pittsburgh Burger List](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2020/01/pittsburgh-burger-list): Burgers are a staple of my diet. Who doesn’t love a good burger? I have several a month. I would eat burgers more if there were not so many things to eat in Pittsburgh. I wanted to put together this list for people to see where to go for a great burger in Pittsburgh, but also so I can track and add to it as I try other great burgers around the city. I also try some mediocre burgers and will add them too. A pretty good rule to follow is if my caption doesn’t have a lot of enthusiasm,… - [End of 2019 and Looking to 2020](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/12/end-of-2019-and-looking-to-2020): Well, it’s the end of 2019. I’m now finishing up two and a half years of eating too much. Just like every year, I’m reflecting on what I’ve done and eaten this past year and everything I would like to do in 2020. I posted a similar year-end recap at the end of 2017 and 2018. Over the last year, I posted over 200 pictures to Instagram, which is down from last year. You all Liked those posts over 36,100 times, which is also down from last year, but I posted like 80 fewer posts. My top posts for the… - [The Eastern European Comfort Food at Brick Shop](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/11/the-eastern-european-comfort-food-at-brick-shop): Update: Brick Shop is no longer open. Most people may not think of food from Eastern Europe as comfort food. However, I do. I grew up eating with a family of Russian and Hungarian descent. Brick Shop is featuring Eastern European style dishes that I was very excited to try out this menu. Brick Shop, the second concept from Chef Brandon Blumenfeld located on the ground floor of the Tryp Hotel in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The restaurant is a little more bespoke with a smaller seating area, dimmed lighting and a fireplace. One thing to note is that… - [Experiencing the Neighborhood at A Taste in Dormont](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/11/experiencing-the-neighborhood-at-a-taste-in-dormont): Update: Unfortunately, A Taste in Dormont did not return for a second year. I really need to do a better job of exploring the restaurants and businesses in my own neighborhood in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I was lucky enough to get to attend A Taste in Dormont, which is an annual event organized by Discover Dormont bringing together restaurants, businesses, and organizations from the neighborhood to one place for local residents to experience at one time. For me, it was just a short walk down the hill to the Dormont Pool parking lot to attend this event under the… - [All The Food Options at The Eatery at The Meadows](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/11/all-the-food-options-at-the-eatery-at-the-meadows): Food Halls are all the rage right now. Pittsburgh has several of them, but that requires coming into the city. The food hall concept is now available outside the city at the Meadows Casino with The Eatery at The Meadows, a four restaurant with bar concept in partnership with celebrity chef Fabio Viviani. This food hall replaces what was The Meadows old shopping mall-style food court. Although I never saw the old food court, I can definitely say The Eatery has to be significantly better than what was there originally.  Walking into The Eatery, it is very open and well… - [Indulging in Seafood at Aqueous](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/10/indulging-in-seafood-at-aqueous): It’s been months since I wrote about a specific meal at a restaurant. I’ve been mostly writing about food events and cooking experiences for the last 6 months, at least when I feel like writing. I recently got to eat at Aqueous, a very nice restaurant at Nemacolin Resort in the Laurel Highlands. This dinner was a rather impromptu experience. I was out of town when  Jeremy of Discover the Burgh offered me the opportunity to tag along to dine at and review such a nice restaurant, I moved up my plans to get back to Pittsburgh ASAP. I’m glad… - [In the Kitchen with Michigan & Trumbull Baking Detroit Style Pizza](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/10/in-the-kitchen-with-michigan-trumbull-baking-detroit-style-pizza): I love Pizza. In the last two years, I’ve developed an appreciation for Detroit Style pizza. Particularly I was eating a lot of Michigan & Trumbull Detroit Style pizza while they were in residency at Federal Galley on the North Side. The pizza really paired well with the awesome half-off happy hour at the Federal Galley bar. When it was announced they were going to be heading to Detroit, I knew I would need to eat as much pizza as I could before that day happened. And oh did I eat. While taking in a fantastic happy hour at Federal… - [I Took a Macaron Class at Macaron Bar](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/09/i-took-a-macaron-class-at-macaron-bar): Last month I had a completely impromptu opportunity to take the Intro to Macarons class at Macaron Bar in East Liberty. I had recently met Pittsburgh location owners Kyle and Michael and told them about my wanting to get in the kitchen more at different restaurants. A couple of weeks later, I got a message that a spot opened up in one of their classes for the next day. I jumped on the opportunity. Macaron Bar opened in East Liberty in late 2018 as a grab and go macaron and coffee shop. They envisioned soon after opening using the space… - [My Blended Burger Entry](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/09/my-blended-burger-entry): A couple of months ago I was invited to a tasting at Burgh’ers Lawrenceville to try their new Blended Burger entry for the James Beard Foundation Blended Burger Project. For those that do not know, a blended burger is made with at least 25% mushrooms blended into the meat. At Burgh’ers, chef Fiore Moletz won the James Beard Blended Burger competition in 2018 and was ready to compete again for the title in 2019. This year, his burger was a little more Pittsburgh inspired. It tasted great and definitely a worthy entry for this year’s competition. After visiting Burgh’ers, I… - [Fun at Festa Di Limoncello](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/09/fun-at-festa-di-limoncello): I don’t drink much wine and I honestly don’t remember the last time I drank limoncello. To be even more honest, I don’t know anything about types of limoncello or how it is made. However, this summer I attended the Vallozzi’s Festa di Limoncello party and I am sold on limoncello and parties filled with delicious Italian food. (Disclaimer: I was already sold on Italian food. It’s obviously one of the best food groups. For those who do not know, Limoncello according to the most accurate source on the internet, Wikipedia, is a liqueur made from lemon zest and simple… - [Foodies Feasting on French Food at Jean Louis](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/04/foodies-feasting-on-french-food-at-jean-louis): Update: Jean Louis is now closed. I get excited when a fancy, new restaurant opens near my house. Living in the South Hills on the closer side to the city, our restaurants are mostly pizza and other types of takeout with a couple other casual sit down places mixed in. It was a pleasant surprise when a French Bistro, Jean Louis Parisian Bistro, was announced to take over the space which was formerly Needle & Pin. I was skeptical at first if people would come to Dormont for a nice French meal. I quickly realized they will when I stepped… - [Bring on the Meat at Fogo de Chao](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/03/bring-on-the-meat-at-fogo-de-chao): Add Fogo De Chao to the list of restaurants I don’t know why it took me so long to write a post. I’ve mentioned before my love for any dining experience that features all-you-can-eat. One of the more exciting of these is the Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chao. They combine my loves of meat, eating too much and a classy dining experience under one roof. Fogo de Chao opened in Downtown Pittsburgh in early 2018. This would be my third time getting to enjoy their incredible and very large steakhouse. I was there most recently the other night to… - [Ba-Co: BBQ and Tacos - What's Not to Love](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2019/01/ba-co-bbq-and-tacos-whats-not-to-love): Update: Ba-Co is closed. It’s no secret part of why I started a food blog and Instagram was to get invited to try awesome new food before everyone else and then take photos of that food to make everyone else jealous and excited. I have also met so many great people and have a lot of fun eating with them. Meeting some of these other foodies lead me to one of the best previews I attended. I got a chance to check out Ba-Co, the new concept opening at Smallman Galley. They will be bringing southern style BBQ and tacos… - [2018 Recap and 2019 Goals](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/12/2018-recap-and-2019-goals): The last year has been exciting. I can proudly say that this hobby of eating too much (Ahh see what I did here and in the first sentence!) and showing you all about it has really taken off. When I started the year, I had the goal to really grow the Instagram account, grow the blog, work more with restaurants and meet new people. I’d say I accomplished half of my 2018 goals. I posted a similar year-end recap at the end of 2017 seen here. Over the last year, I posted over 300 pictures to Instagram. You all Liked… - [Getting Behind the Counter at V3 Flatbread Pizza](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/12/getting-behind-the-counter-at-v3-flatbread-pizza): I have great respect for the people who make my food when it’s being made well. One of the foods I have a fondness for is pizza. Watching someone craft the perfect pizza is always entertaining to me because of the care placed into correctly stretching to the dough, evenly placing the toppings and baking to perfection. I generally have no interest in taking up such a profession full time, but I love getting an occasional opportunity to step behind the scenes and learn about the food preparation. So I was very excited when V3 Flatbread Pizza invited me into… - [Attending One Bite One Day](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/10/attending-one-bite-one-day): Occasionally I get the opportunity to attend a great event benefiting a great organization. Recently I attended One Bite, One Day benefitting local non-profit One Day to Remember. Their mission is to create lasting memories for children of parents with a life-limiting illness. They help the family forget about the illness for a day, have time together and remember what a day was like before the diagnosis. The intention is to give the family a day without having to worry about the future, treatment, sickness, or financial hardship. Please visit the One Day to Remeber website to learn more about… - [Pittsburgh Foodies Experience Duncan Street Dinners](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/08/pittsburgh-foodies-experience-duncan-street-dinners): Dinner parties if executed correctly can be a fantastic experience. I really wish I got a chance to host them more. I’m lucky if I get to host three or four mediocre dinner parties a year. So I was really excited to find out about Duncan Street Dinners. I had heard of a monthly dinner party at a home, which I could reserve a seat, but never got around to attending. A few months back, Matt of @morningafterpgh suggested we do a dinner with local Pittsburgh foodies. I loved the idea and so did Dan and Kendyl who run Duncan… - [So What If My Dining Experience Wasn't Very Good](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/08/so-what-if-i-my-dining-experience-wasnt-very-good): I recently visited a restaurant out in the sticks of Southwestern PA. It is apparently a local favorite and a novelty because of its location. If you saw my Instagram Stories from that night you know the place. I’ll admit I had low expectations going into it. I looked up the menu prior to driving to this place to find the usual Italian American dishes on the menu with your choice of chicken, veal or shrimp. It wasn’t building my excitement for the meal. As someone who grew up in the sticks of Northeastern PA, finding good restaurants was rare.… - [Eating So Much Delicious Lamb at the Western PA 2nd Annual Lamb Cook-Off](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/08/eating-so-much-delicious-lamb-at-the-western-pa-2nd-annual-lamb-cook-off): Food festivals are fantastic. I love the opportunity to try so many dishes at one time. I get the same excitement from buffets. I recently got to attend the Western PA Lamb Fest Cook-off. This is an amazing event hosted by Table Magazine and the Ace Hotel Pittsburgh. This was also a charity event as a portion of proceeds went to the Pittsburgh Emergency Medicine Foundation. The event asks chefs from Pittsburgh and beyond to team up and cook creative lamb dishes. I don’t get to eat a lot of lamb dishes other than gyros so I was really looking… - [Starting a Pittsburgh Foodie Meetup](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/06/starting-a-pittsburgh-foodie-meetup): Setting Up the Meetup I started posting photos of food to Instagram, @alexeatstoomuch, as an excuse to eat new and exciting dishes but also to hopefully meet new people. I did not realize when I started my account in August 2017 this was a hobby requiring a great deal of dedication. As I have gone on this journey of eating at new restaurants and cooking new dishes at home, I have talked to quite a few new people and built up a small repertoire among other local foodies. However, I can’t just do a hobby without trying to improve on… - [Since I Haven't Been Posting A Lot, Here's a Recap](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/05/since-i-havent-been-posting-a-lot-heres-a-recap): I started 2018 with a set of goals for be a better food blogger. So far I’ve pretty much missed every one of those goals in 2018. I basically stopped creating new blog posts for almost two months. Hopefully I’ll get a little back on track at this point. However, here is a little bit of catch up while I’ve ignored my blogging.   Pittsburgh Winter Beerfest I regularly attend festivals that involve a large quantity of food or beer. Every February there is the Pittsburgh Beerfest at the David Lawrence Convention Center. This is one of my favorite events… - [OneTable Gave Me a Good Excuse to Host a Shabbat Dinner](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/04/onetable-gave-me-a-good-excuse-to-host-a-shabbat-dinner): Hosting dinners is difficult, but I fully enjoy doing it. There is something about showing off my cooking skills and the praise that comes from it that I love. Wonder why. It could also be the welcoming people into my home and giving them a well-made meal and an opportunity for conversation. Recently, OneTable, an organization that wants to bring people together for Shabbat dinners began organizing and sponsoring dinners in Pittsburgh. OneTable has a goal of helping hosts create an evening of meeting new people or reconnecting with those you already know. Last week, I hosted an OneTable Shabbat… - [Bae Bae's Kitchen Gets Fast Casual Lunch Right](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/02/bae-baes-kitchen-gets-fast-casual-lunch-right): Update: Bae Bae’s Kitchen is now closed. Working in downtown Pittsburgh, I shouldn’t struggle trying to pick a place to go to eat for lunch. However, I do with regularity have trouble thinking of a restaurant to eat. When I do go out for lunch, I have a tendency to eat at the places within a block of my office. This mostly because of time or it’s too cold to walk further. Lately though, one of the places I have been making exception to this one block rule is Bae Bae’s Kitchen. If you haven’t heard of this restaurant, you… - [My Food Adventures While in Las Vegas for CES](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/02/my-food-adventures-while-in-las-vegas-for-ces): Not only am I a foodie who eats too much, but I am also a major tech nerd. Years ago, I even thought I was going to be a tech blogger, except buying new tech toys gets to be too expensive. After 2 detailed posts on a currently in maintenance personal website, I gave up. Fast forward like 4 years and now I’m writing about and taking photos of food as I not only go over budget and worry about my weight and health*. *Don’t worry, my overall health is good and my weight is going back down. My job,… - [My Initial Experiences with Blue Apron](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/01/my-initial-experiences-with-blue-apron): I really hate the idea of paying a lot for a meal I’m going to cook at home. I think this is a reasonable expectation. After all, I have to put in all the effort to prep and cook the meal. I generally don’t like my in home meals to cost more than $8 a plate, maybe $10 for a good steak, to prepare. After this, I almost feel like the cost vs. the time and effort to prep, cook and clean is just not worth it. This is why I am so hesitant to sign up regularly for a… - [How Has It Taken Me This Long To Write About Condado Tacos?](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2018/01/how-has-it-taken-me-this-long-to-write-about-condado-tacos): Seriously? How has it taken me this long to write about Condado Tacos? They opened almost a year ago. I started this blog almost 5 months ago. I probably eat there at least twice a month. So finally I’m writing about Condado Tacos, which I will start off with is not a typical taco place. A traditional taco is like a 4″ to 6″ diameter tortilla with some kind of protein, veggies and sauces. This is not what Condado Tacos does. They are great at overloading a taco shell with so many great flavors and letting you make a complete mess… - [The AlexEatsTooMuch 2017 Lessons Learned and 2018 Resolutions](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/12/the-alexeatstoomuch-2017-lessons-learned-and-2018-resolutions): When I started the AlexEatsTooMuch blog and Instagram only four months ago, I really wasn’t sure of my plan and goal. I was really just looking for an excuse to share my love of food and eat new meals at home or at new restaurants. I have done a lot of that so far. I began with the idea I was going to only post about new restaurants and become this awesome foodie about town. I have probably visited like 50 restaurants. However, I learned quick it is expensive to keep eating out every day when you also have real… - [My First Time Eating KFC (No Not That KFC) at Ki Pollo](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/12/my-first-time-eating-kfc-no-not-that-kfc-at-ki-pollo): Update: Ki Pollo has rebranded as Nanban and now offers fried chicken and ramen. I’m really struggling to keep up with all the new restaurants opening in Pittsburgh. Part of it is I go to the same places once I find something I like and go there over and over again. The other part of it is I’m lazy and so many of them are opening on the opposite side of town from me. Actually having to make an effort is sometimes too much. Recently, I got an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by going to Ki… - [Office Holiday Party at Cinderlands Beer Co.](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/12/office-holiday-party-at-cinderlands-beer-co): Pittsburgh is seriously becoming one hell of a craft brewery and foodie city. In the last year, so much has opened that I can’t keep up. One of the more exciting combined entries into those realms is the new Cinderlands Beer Co. What’s crazy is I can’t decide is this is a great restaurant with awesome beer or an awesome restaurant with great beer? Maybe it’s just all around awesome food and beer. Cinderlands just opened up a few weeks ago in the space of the former Roasted restaurant in Lawrenceville. That’s obviously not descriptive enough location since that place… - [Wandering and Eating in San Francisco Chinatown](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/11/wandering-and-eating-in-san-francisco-chinatown): After the first day of work I really wanted to explore Chinatown. I had always been fascinated with New York Chinatown and never really took good advantage of it. My father worked for 3 years just outside New York Chinatown. Every time I would visit in the office or go to take your child to work day, I would never try some of the more authentic Chinese food nearby and instead opt for a burger. However, my father frequently brought home boxes of fresh fortune cookies from the factory in Chinatown. You’ve not had a fortune cookie until you’ve had… - [Being a Tourist - Golden Gate Bridge](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/11/being-a-tourist-golden-gate-bridge): My first afternoon in San Francisco I did the most touristy thing of all and went to see the Golden Gate Bridge. I planned out prior to my trip that I wanted to go across the bridge leaving the city, see the bridge from two of the overlooks on the opposite and then walk back across. Unfortunately I didn’t land in San Francisco until almost 4 PM so that really wasn’t going to give me much time to see it before it got dark. I also had no clue if I would be in San Francisco again at this point… - [My Caffeine Overload at the Rise and Shine Festival](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/11/my-caffeine-overload-at-the-rise-and-shine-festival): The other day, Good Food Pittsburgh hosted a new event at Hitchhiker Brewery called Rise and Shine Festival. The event was a morning filled of coffee and tea sample with food and coffee flavored beers and cocktails available for purchase. This was an ambitious idea as most food festivals do not start this early. I love events like this because I get to try so many things at one time. I also love these events because I tend to go overboard by trying too much in a short period of time. My brother and I arrived at 9:30 AM for… - [Alex 'Tastes' a 'Reasonable' Amount of Whiskey at Pittsburgh Whiskey Festival](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/11/alex-tastes-a-reasonable-amount-of-whiskey-at-pittsburgh-whiskey-festival): This is easily one of my favorite events of the year. It is an opportunity for me to try so much bourbon, Scotch and other fine spirits for a flat fee, which is helpful for me to decide what new bottle I will add to my collection. However, this year two days before the event I won a Fine Wine and Spirits lottery to purchase a limited bottle of William L. Weller Antique Collection cask strength bourbon, so my fancy purchase was done for the year. This leads to me caring less about remembering what I tried was good and… - [Favorite Pittsburgh Food Trucks](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/10/favorite-pittsburgh-food-trucks): Pittsburgh has a respectable food truck scene. It’s great to have a variety of foods from different cultures or different culinary genres to try. I love how the food trucks make a really good effort to make their food available to the whole Pittsburgh region. I really enjoy attending food truck round ups, especially when beer is available. We now take food trucks for granted in Pittsburgh, but it was really only just a few years ago when there were barely any in this city. This could be blamed and still blamed today on stupid ordinances making it difficult for… - [Stumbling from Brewery to Brewery in San Francisco](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/10/stumbling-from-brewery-to-brewery-in-san-francisco): My last night in San Francisco on my first and unknowingly not my last trip, I really struggled to come up with a good idea of something to keep me occupied that evening. I wasn’t in town with any coworkers this time so I needed to find something on my own. I asked around the office I was working in for some ideas when they started talking about having a beer. It occurred to me I had noticed on the map the other day a local brewery, but felt it was too far away to take a trip to for… - [For the Love of Chain Pizza](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/10/for-the-love-of-chain-pizza): I spent my early childhood growing up in the Bronx, New York City. Part of getting to live in NYC is getting to actually eat good pizza. A good New York style pizza is going to have a thin and crispy crust, but still be soft enough to be folded. This is still my favorite style of pizza. Thick crust, deep dish, Sicilian are all fine and good, but its not a New York style pie. After moving from NYC, the further I move away from NYC, the harder and harder it becomes to find an NYC style pizza. In… - [Mini Post - Mini Pastries are Awesome](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/10/mini-post-mini-pastries): OK, mini pastries are awesome, right? They are rarely something you would have for dessert after a normal meal at home. It’s not like you just keep mini pastries around the house. They are a special occasion dessert. They are the dessert you get at a fancy dinner or at a conference, like in my situation today. I’m currently at a conference and they had an offering of 5 mini pastries. I felt I was being responsible by only having 3 of the 5. I know, you are all proud of my for showing such restraint.  I treated myself to… - [Alex Eats/Drinks/Sightsees Too Much in San Francisco](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/10/alex-eatsdrinkssightsees-too-much-in-san-francisco): Over the last 2 months, I been given the fortunate opportunity to spend some time in San Francisco for work. These trips have been mostly on only a couple days’ notice and created out of a rather unusual work situation. Since the unusual work situation could complete at any time and each trip could potentially be the last one, I have been trying to take as much advantage as possible doing touristy things on my spare time and eating at some pretty great restaurants. I have been trying to figure out what’s the best way to chronicle all my travels… - [First Impressions in Food Blogging](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/09/first-impressions-in-food-blogging): I am learning some things quickly about this food blogging stuff. I basically started this because people kept telling me to share my opinions about food, as an experiment to see how easy or difficult it is to be a food blogger and Instagrammer, and the potential of free food. I’m already struggling to think about what to write about and post on Instagram. Some days I just don’t eat anything exciting. Other days you would probably judge me for what I’m eating. If I’m just having one item, I can’t really write about it unless that item is amazing.… - [Steel Cactus is Introducing a Fall Burrito Too - The Bird](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/2017/09/steel_cactus_is_introducing_a_fall_burrito_too): Update: Steel Cactus is now closed. Mexican food has become a staple in American cuisine. We have a great way of taking the foods of other cultures around the world, adopting them as our own and then adapting it to our local traditions and flavors. Now we make tacos and burritos using ingredients not commonly part of Mexican cuisine. A great example is the seasonal Fall Thanksgiving burrito. Mexican restaurants wanting to push the boundaries and offer something different and exciting serve every Fall a burrito stuffed with Thanksgiving favorites. This week, I got the opportunity to try out the… ## Pages - [Cookie Policy](https://alexeatstoomuch.com/cookie-policy): This page provides comprehensive information about how we use cookies on our website to enhance your browsing experience, improve website performance, and deliver personalized content.
