I had an evening out in Sharpsburg with @foodismysavior_pgh, one of my OG Instagram friends. We've know each other almost 8 years now and it was great to get to catch up. First, we got savory meals at @thebrinery412. I got The 916 smash burger. I opted for a triple because I'm crazy like that. She got the The Graceland. Their fried chicken sandwiches are fire are so are the sauces. Second, we stopped in at @lovekatiedistilling for after dinner cocktails. This cute and inclusive distillery and cocktail bar produces spirits and makes fantastic cocktails.

I recently ate again at @fujiyaramenpgh in Shadyside. It was one of the many cold days in January, and I was in the mood for a warm bowl of ramen. It was restaurant week so we got to try a bunch of apps and dessert too. I always liked Fujiya Ramen and they are a great option for Japanese food in Pittsburgh.

I finally went to @wisecountybiscuits and Café on the North Side. I am so mad at myself for taking this long to get there for a meal. I used to get Wise County Biscuits all the time at farmers markets around the city. Some of the earliest photos on my account are of beautiful, messy breakfast sandwiches. I was so happy to see them open up a restaurant, but I don’t go out to breakfast often. After that meal, I really need to go out for breakfast more. I missed these biscuits. I knew right away I needed to order the Fried Chicken Biscuit. I used to say all the time at farmers markets those biscuits would be amazing with fried chicken. I was right. I loved my sandwich. Now I need to return more often to keep working through all the meals Wise County Biscuits offers.

I spent a fantastic weekend in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands hosted by @go_laurelhighlands to see that the region is more than just skiing in the winter. I explored restaurants, attractions and parks along with a group of travel and experience content creators on this weekend getaway. On this trip, I focused on visiting many of the restaurants in the region I had never eaten at before. In between eating, I visited Laurel Highlands landmarks and attractions. We got to do so much in the Laurel Highlands and it’s a great place to get away.

1) The only group outdoor activity I participated in was a visit to Ohiopyle State Park and Cucumber Falls. The falls are so beautiful right now, frozen over. *
2) Smoked Salmon and Salmon entrée at @outofthefirecafe in Donegal. They are known for their delicious smoked salmon, but they have quite the amazing farm to table menu

I was invited to try out @duos_pgh. They are a restaurant in East Liberty featuring classic Mexican cuisine and well crafted cocktails. We had a fantastic meal. The menu at Duo’s is designed to celebrate Mexico’s rich culinary heritage with dishes. Chef Marcella Ogrodnik explores the culinary heart of Mexico City through a range of street foods and regional dishes. They also have over 120 rare and hard to find of tequila and mezcal from Mexican owned distillers, and featured in their cocktails. I’m sure I will be back at Duo’s Taqueria for dinner again.

• Suadero tacos - jubilee hilltop ranch brisket, salsa arbol, cilantro, onion

This is @ceaseanddesistpgh, a new private space in Downtown Pittsburgh. I celebrated my birthday there a couple of weeks ago. It is a speakeasy-style bar, elegantly decorated and includes memorabilia and murals to give it a casual vibe. It was special to get to take over a new establishment for the night and share it with a group of friends. They can serve everything from quality cocktails to beers to whatever drinks you request within reason. I had my fair share of fantastic cocktails and barrel select whiskeys throughout the evening. This space will eventually become a private club, but for now, you can use it for parties by contacting @thewarrenpgh.

I’ve been getting cocktails at The Warren regularly for almost a decade since they opened. Working downtown, it has been a perfect location to hang out after work with coworkers, or stop by later at night after dinner or a show. It has been exciting to see how they have grown, first with ETA Bar and now with Cease & Desist.

Last weekend, @go_laurelhighlands [hosted] me and a group of travel and experience content creators on a fantastic getaway. Living in Pittsburgh now for over 15 years, I have spent a lot of time hiking and going to events in the Laurel Highlands. On this trip, we had a fantastic itinerary of restaurants and attractions and time spent in the snow in the region’s beautiful forests. I enjoyed most of my weekend doing what I do best, eating. I have so much more to share from this trip, but for now, here are some highlights.

4) My breakfast sandwich at @ohiopyle_coffee_company, hosted by Go Laurel Highlands. This was massive, inexpensive, and delicious.

6) A visit to @livingtreasureslh Wild Animal Park, where we got up close with some of the animals they are caring for. I’m being wrapped up in Red Tailed Boa Rexy.
7) The Pig Wings at @hillbillysgrubnpub where we spent an evening eating and having a good time. Hosted by Go Laurel Highlands.
8) Coffee flight at @brewedawakeningcafesoco in Somerset. Hosted by Go Laurel Highlands.
9) A cold but somber and emotional visit to the @flight93_nps Memorial in Shanksville. I’m standing at the Tower of Voices windchime sculpture. This is a place I will be visiting again when it is warmer to better experience its importance.

I partnered with @samueladamsbeer American Light to have their new easy-drinking light beer with a bar food feast at Shenanigan’s Bar and Grille in Pittsburgh’s North Hills. Samuel Adams American Light is part of Shenanigan’s rotating Samuel Adams beers on tap. It’s great that a brewer like Samuel Adams is making a light beer as it will still be flavorful but not heavy to drink. They have a large menu and I was craving a Chicken Parmesan sandwich. I really liked the use of hand-breaded chicken. I got a bunch of appetizers like the Buffalo Mozzarella Sticks, Wings, and Shenanigan’s Fries. I washed down all this food with a crisp, refreshing Samuel Adams American Light beer. This was my first time at Shenanigan’s and the food was really good, and it looked like a great place to watch a game. I ate one of the best meals ever at @revivalkitche

I ate one of the best meals ever at @revivalkitchen in Reedsville. The restaurant is in Central Pennsylvania, just outside Lewistown and about 30 minutes from State College. They are a 26-seat seasonal restaurant operating from April to October, making Reedsville a dining destination. Chef Quintin Wicks is a Lewistown native who returned to the area with to create this premier culinary experience with business partner Liz. Their dishes feature locally sourced ingredients to create beautiful and delicious farm-to-table tasting menus. Each month, the menu changes using the freshest items from the local farms. I got the opportunity to eat there in September when I was in town for Goose Day with the @juniatarivervalley. My meal was an incredible five courses. The whole menu from my visit is below. Reservations for Revival Kitchen open up for the entire season at once and they will go fast. It’s worth making a reservation if you know you’ll be in the area.

@pghsandwichsociety at @strangerootsbeer in Millvale now has a Wing Night on Thursdays. You can get 12 wings for $12. I gave them a visit to try out the wings and get a few beers. I got the Buffalo sauce and the CharBQ wings. I really liked the CharBQ wings, which are double cooked in the broiler to give them a nice char and caramelization. They are served with celery, carrots and blue cheese. I love a wing night and this just gives me another reason to visit my friends at Pittsburgh Sandwich Society and Strange Roots.

I was invited to try @kyuramen.pittsburgh which just opened in East Liberty. I got to taste many of the items now available on the menu including many appetizers, a couple of bowls of ramen, an omurice omelet and a few desserts. The ramen was very good with flavorful broth, lots of ramen noodles, and delicious chashu pork, and a 7 minute egg. I was also so excited to try Omurice, the fluffy omelet served over fried rice. I think this is the first restaurant to have it in Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to eat again and Kyuramen.

I was able to attend the opening evening of @onebyspork. Unlike anything I've had in Pittsburgh, @sporkpgh transformed into One by Spork, a high-end tasting dinner with incredibly innovative dishes. This was one of the most incredible dining experiences I have had in Pittsburgh. It includes eight courses, welcome bites, a drink pairing, and desserts. Each course was visually appealing, featuring locally sourced ingredients, and made with techniques and equipment in their open kitchen and food lab. We watched many of the dishes be prepared or completed and assembled right in front of us. This was truly an amazing experience and I was glad we got to be there for their first dinner service. This experience also comes at a cost higher than anything before in Pittsburgh at $275 before tax and gratuity, but I would say it is worth it for so many courses and this incredible food. Reservations with a deposit are required. Thanks to @karen.hoang for snagging the reservation and @sopheating & @mike.jams for joining on this incredible dinner.

On my quick trip to @visit_hersheyharrisburg the other week, I stopped in at @troegs_hershey for lunch and some beers. @troegsbeer is an incredible brewery and a great visit. They have lots of great dark and barrel aged beers on tap during this time of year. I definitely returned home with many bottles. Their Snack Bar also features some of the best food I've eaten at a brewery. I ordered the Chicken and Biscuit and I think it was the best confit chicken I've eaten.

I went to Supper at @oakhillpgh in Pittsburgh’s Brookline. I’ve been wanting to give this new menu a try since they changed from breakfast and lunch back to dinner service. The new menu only had four items in each section, so we ordered everything for the table and I’m so glad we did. Everything was fantastic. We got four well-crafted mocktails. We ordered all four starters, of which the Stew made with pork and root vegetables was my favorite. We enjoyed all four of the mains, of which the Lamb Chops were my favorite as they were cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. We finished with both of the desserts. Oak Hill Post continues to impress and you should give them a visit for Supper.

Have you seen the ARUROA holiday light display in

Have you seen the ARUROA holiday light display in Mellon Square park downtown? @pittsburghparks has curated this light display by @shiftworkspgh and @joshuachallenice of a radiant wave of lights. The floating diamonds illuminated in different color lights create different patterns and hues as the wind shifts. This is on display only a little while longer with the final Saturday in the Square on December 28 with pop up shops, free hot chocolate, live performances and free holiday portraits. See the Pittsburgh Parks website for more details.

I got to see the ARUROA lights when doing a fun photo shoot and getting great winter portraits. Over the years, I've had to learn to try to be more relaxed in front of the camera. I still have to be reminded sometimes not to had a fake smile. But honestly, it was so much fun to get to do something like this and I'm so happy with how these turned out.
