𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘇 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁
I've spent a lot of time driving back and forth across Pennsylvania the last few months. One thing that has been consistent on every drive is the quality of @sheetz on all these trips. The stores and restrooms are always clean, the staff is always friendly and the food is almost always good. For example look at this sandwich. This is something that was on the menu. I didn't create this. This is The Big Mozz with Homestyle Chicken, Mozzarella Sticks, Provolone and Marinara. It was delicious. I also got an appetizer sampler. Lots of fried goodness. This is in no way a paid post. I just appreciate Sheetz being there for me on all these drives I've been making.

𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗘𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵!
I mean holy crap, right?!?!? I started @alexeatstoomuch 5 years ago today. It's really crazy to think of how much I've eaten, how many great people I've met and so many great Pittsburgh events I've experienced because of this account. Here's just a small portion of all the crazy photos of me posing with food or food related things. One of the things that was really difficult for me when I started was a willingness to be in front of the camera. Now it's almost a joke I need to have a photo shoot of me eating a slice of pizza or a taco.

Things have been a little busy this summer not related to food so I've been MIA a lot. I hope I'll get past these things soon. When I do, expect some belated 5th anniversary celebrations!

I'm still so thankful for all of you that have decided to follow me. Some of you are still here from the beginning and I have loved interacting and eating with so many of you. Others might have just discovered my eating adventure and I hope to run into some day. Many of you have supported this sometimes crazy endeavour in one way or another whether it was sharing my page, feeding me, inviting me to events or just following along. I appreciate the continued support. Thank you so much! Here's to another year of eating good food!

It's also been months since I last did an intro so here we go!

I'm Alex. I'm in my mid 30s and still single. I moved to Pittsburgh 13 years ago for work after finishing college at Penn State. This is not my full time job but I eat like it's a job. I've always been a fantastic, adventurous and frequent eater. When I'm not eating, I'm usually watching movies or TV, going to concerts, dreaming about cars I can't afford, quoting The Simpsons and getting strange looks, and in warmer months watching the Pirates lose and spending some time outdoors hiking and camping. I have a pretty extensive About Me section on the website, which I still haven't updated since the last time I said I needed to really update it. Also, I'm pretty internet stalkable with minimal effort.

I got to check out the new @hellobistro BYO Burgers the other day. BYO is Build Your Own. They were always known for the BYO Salads, but since we know I appreciate a burger over a salad any day I was excited to customize my own burger. They recently changed their burgers to smash burger style and added a bunch of different options such as different types of protein, different buns and a load of different toppings and sauces. I went the messy and savory route for a delicious BYO Burger creation. I went with 2 patties on a brioche bun with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms, bacon, a fried egg and BBQ sauce. It tasted great but oh boy were my hands a mess.

This weekend I stopped by the @yelppittsburgh and Cafe @phippsconservatory tent at the @pghvintagegp. They were showcasing food from Cafe Phipps for people with Yelp accounts. They were serving an awesome Hawaiian Pulled Pork sandwich with grilled pineapple, Kale Caesar Salad and Tomato Bruschetta. Cafe Phipps is open to the public and eating there doesn't require buying admission to the conservatory.

Trying something new again.

I tried out @blackdogwoodfired the other night at

I tried out @blackdogwoodfired the other night at as part of a special make your own pizza night hosted by @necromancerbrewing and @therestaurantbrokerpgh. I made a pizza with pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms. Black Dog has a rebuilt classic truck with a wood fired grill in the back. They get the oven super hot so the pizzas bake in a few minutes. I though mine tasted great. I really liked the dough and crust. I'll have to get this again. This was also my second time at Necromancer recently and I'm still enjoying the beer. I got the Forbidden Fruit smoked sour and really loved it. Not too much sweetness and a nice slight smokey flavor.

Visited @quantum_spirits to try out their new canned cocktails and these are delicious and easy to drink. They have three different ones available: Lemon Pi, made with rye vodka, lemon, ginger and rhubarb; Cosmic Cranberry, made with rye vodka, cranberry, black lime bitters and rosemary; and Strawberry Supernova, made with rye vodka, strawberry puree, watermelon, lime and sea salt. I tried the lemon and cranberry cocktails over ice and they were so good. They are 12% each. We also had bites from their menu designed by @kimberleyashleecatering. I had some of the Nachos with chicken, beer cheese and Solara Rye Whiskey BBQ Sauce, and some do the charcuterie board. This is a great menu for enjoying cocktails in their tasting room or patio. Quantum is making some really great spirits and there's definitely some cool stuff coming up soon.
