I was invited by @sullivanssteakhouse Pittsburgh t

I was invited by @sullivanssteakhouse Pittsburgh to one of their monthly wine pairing dinners. January's dinner showcased @caymuscab. Each month, Sullivan's Steakhouse features a different vineyard and the chef creates a 4 course pairing with special off menu dishes. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I do love a good steak dinner so I figured I would give it a try. For each course, it was paired with a different wine and they provide a menu with space for tasting notes. Being an awful wine taster, my notes aren't very detailed. I enjoyed the Caymus Walking Fool Red Blend and the Caymus Napa Cabernet the most of the wines. On the food side, my favorites were the Filet Tenderloin and the Doughnut Bites. This dinner is a great option for someone who wants to have a good meal and try a bunch of different wines. It's also at a pretty reasonable price point for 4 courses and 4 glasses of wine. No surprise to anyone I had dinner again at @gi_jinpgh. The special for the weekend is these delicious Char Siu Pork Belly Bao. Char Siu is a style of pork barbecue that I love. This was topped with grilled broccolini and ginger-scallion aioli. These were amazing and I would get them all the time if they were on the menu regularly. I've always said this, you have to get the specials at Gi-Jin. It's worth it. Obviously I ate a ton of sushi too but I show that off all the time.

I checked out the @g.s.sandoco pop-up last week after hearing great things about these sandwiches. They did not disappoint. They are made using homemade Japanese Milk Bread and different types of katsu. We split 2 sandwiches. The one on the left is the Pittsburgh Sando with friend pork sausage, bacon jam, cabbage and smashed potatoes. The one on the right is the Shigi Katsu which was a ground chicken katsu with eggplant, and cabbage. These were both interesting and tasty sandwiches. I want to try out the rest. I finally got around to trying @polskalaskapgh Pol

I finally got around to trying @polskalaskapgh Polish food pop-up last week. I was able to get this delicious plate of signature polish foods like homemade pierogies, haluski and grilled kielbasi. The pierogies were the best with a nice potato filling, folded edges and pan fried to perfection. This all went great with my beers that afternoon.

I went to dinner the other night at Sichuan Gourmet in Squirrel Hill for the first time in years. I always liked their more traditional Chinese side of the menu and the Americanized menu is pretty good too. All our dishes with protein had a little bit of spicy kick and the veggie dishes were nicely seasoned too. Also Happy Lunar New Year to those celebrating.
We ordered:
- Szechuan beef
- Spicy fish fillet in flaming pan
- Shredded beef with hot pepper
- Kung Pao chicken
- Baby bok choy with black mushroom
- Chong qing spicy chicken
- Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce

I just received a delivery from @coffeetreepgh fea

I just received a delivery from @coffeetreepgh featuring newly released flavors of their bottles cold brew coffee. Along with the original cold brew they also sent me the Caramel Cream Latte and Mocha Cream Latte. Can't wait to drink these. They also sent me a some other great items they sell in their locations around the #Pittsburgh region. Thanks Coffee Tree!

Last night I visited @papajstwinplaza for @rachelt

Last night I visited @papajstwinplaza for @racheltrav farewell dinner. Papa J's made a great menu of pasta dishes and Roman style pizza off us to eat over the evening. I enjoyed everything and really liked the pizza. They also have a great selection of gelato. I definitely want to go back.
It's sad to see @racheltrav moving on from her role her at @yelppittsburgh. It's been great hanging with her at food events over the last year. Even though I don't do much with Yelp, I was always glad to be included in some events she organized. Wishing her and Scott the best on their new adventure.

I visited the Apres Ski Bar at @butcherandtheryepg

I visited the Apres Ski Bar at @butcherandtheryepgh on a lovely warm winter day to get that ski lodge vibe. I don't ski so this was a great experience. They are making great cocktails that are meant to warm your insides. We got starters like the cheese fondue that came with a giant plate of different meats, veggies and bread for dipping. The charcuterie board was nice with different cured meats. I had to get the pork schnitzel has my entree and I thought it was as good as it looked on the menu. Lastly, you definitely need to do a shot ski while there so you can get the full ski bar experience.
