I was invited to @fiveirongolf in Pittsburgh’s M

I was invited to @fiveirongolf in Pittsburgh’s Market Square for an evening. Five Iron Golf is an indoor golf simulator featuring recreations of real courses, games and lessons. You can also get a membership to play golf indoors all the time. I went with a couple of friends and we had a great time taking swings at the different scenes on the screen. We had fun playing the different target games and geeked out over our swing stats. Five Iron Golf also has a great selection of food and cocktails. We tried so much like the boneless wings, mac and cheese bites, an autumn salad, and my favorite, the Pittsburgh Poutine. The cocktails were tasty too. We wrapped up with the brownie and donut hole dippers for dessert. We had so much fun at Five Iron Golf and ate so well that I am ready to return for another round and perhaps a lesson too.

When I was in Erie, Pennsylvania, I was told I had to get Pizza at @ippa_pizza at @flagshipcity.foodhall. A crazy thing happened that while I was in @visiterie, @_jessies_eddies_ was in town too and she was also planning on visiting Ippa Pizza. She was talking with the owner Jason about trying Ippa’s pizza so we headed over for lunch. We got an opportunity to try three of their pizzas, the Ippa signature pizza, the Bianca, and the Rita, and they were all delicious. They also made us a special Nutella calzone for dessert. I was impressed with the efforts they make to use quality ingredients without fillers and to source as much as possible locally. They make their pizza dough containing only water, flour, and Sicilian sea salt. The flour is mix of flours milled from local grains and traditional OO. They stretch daily their MOOTZARELL, their version of mozzarella, made from locally sourced cheese curd. The tomato sauce is milled by hand and mixed with local heirloom tomatoes when available. Veggies and herbs are also all local when seasonally available. This care and quality shows in the flavor of the crust, sauce and cheese. Ippa Pizza is definitely going to be a stop for me on my future trips to Erie, and you should all visit for their pizza too.

What an incredible show last night. @greenday brou

What an incredible show last night. @greenday brought their Saviors Tour to @pnc_park last night and celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Dookie and 20th Anniversary of American Idiot. These two albums were such a big part of my youth. Dookie came out at a time when I was discovering my own taste in music and not just what my parents listened to on the radio, leading my down a path of 90s alternative and punk. American Idiot came out at a time when I was first starting to really understand the American political system. A big part of the tour is encouraging people to register to vote and save democracy. They played both albums in full and sounded amazing. It was an incredible evening. They brought with them @smashingpumpkins, @rancid and @thelindalindas. Smashing Pumpkins were also a big part of my youth. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was one of the first CDs I bought when I got my first Discman. They put on an amazing set which also included a wrestling performance.

This was an incredible last few days. You might have noticed I'm incorporating more travel content lately. I got the opportunity to attend the @midatlantictourism MATPRA Marketplace in Roanoke, VA hosted by @visitvbr. I spent 3 days learning about all the great destinations in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. I got to explore the food scene of Roanoke, VA and surrounding areas, and I got to meet or see again some amazing creators, journalists and destination marketing representatives. I'm excited to keep in touch with everyone and hopefully visit so many great places and show off their amazing food.

Theres some great creators tagged in the photos but next time gotta remember to do more group photos since I know I'm missing so many great people.

I got to hang out at @burghersbrewingpgh at the Highline in Pittsburgh’s Southside to celebrate the launch of their September burger of the month, the Juicy Jess. Burghers collaborated with @_jessies_eddies_ to create an amazing version of the Juicy Lucy style burger from the midwest. This burger was delicious, topped with lettuce, pickles, sauteed onions, and secret sauce and filled with cheese! We had a great time trying the burgers and the beers while hanging out in this nice beer garden in the Southside.

I was invited to one of the first Supper Club fami

I was invited to one of the first Supper Club family style dinners at the reopening of @wildrosemarybistro in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. Chef Ray wants people to come together for a good meal and a good time, and he is accomplishing just that with family style dinners. These dinners will only have 2 dozen seats and only a few seatings a week. I expect these are going to be quite popular as the food is amazing. We enjoyed a several-course meal featuring Italian recipes and seasonal ingredients. I’m not even picking a favorite because with each course we all were like this is the best. It’s great to see this restaurant get a new life. I can’t wait to return to Wild Rosemary for another family-style dinner and try brunch there for the first time.

I wish I had taken better notes of each dish, so I’m doing this off memory as best I can.

• Pickled Lima Beans with Fresh Parmesan
• Meatballs in Sunday Gravy with Fresh Parmesan
• Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Arancini
• Zucchini Rolls with Ricotta Filling
• Braised Short Rib
• Limoncello Tiramisu
• There was also a soup, which was really good but I cannot remember any of what was in it. Oops.

I absolutely hated the way this shirt looked when

I absolutely hated the way this shirt looked when I got it in the mail. I don't like wearing something this flashy. Everyone told me it looked great and I still didn't believe them. Seeing these photos I finally kinda agree. This is a small example, but step out of that comfort zone and it might work out. Thanks for coming to my talk.

I went to @riverlifepgh Party at the Pier for the first time this year and this is now another must attend event for me. I've typically been out of town or at other events the same night. I had so much fun on the rooftop of the @pittsburghcc_ eating and drinking with friends and taking in the entertainment and views. This year was two big milestones as it's the 25th anniversary of Riverlife and 15 years of Party at the Pier. The party is considered one of the top fashion events of the year and I could see that by how amazing some people were dressed. I'm gonna have to step it up next year.

Riverlife is a nonprofit working to improve Pittsburgh's riverfronts. They work to transform the waterfronts in order to make them better for the community and local businesses.

I was invited by the @steelers to attend the prese

I was invited by the @steelers to attend the preseason game vs the Bills to get me excited for the upcoming season. I’m much more of a baseball guy so I don’t go to football games often. I think that needs to change. The rain luckily stopped just before the game was about to start. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the most exciting game since there were no touchdowns, but the vibe and energy in the seats were still there. I was sitting in the club so we got access to some additional food and drinks. We still opted for some stadium classics like chicken fingers and a footlong hot dog. I gotta say this is a great stadium and Steelers games are a lot of fun. I’m excited for the season and I really need to go to more games.

I finally tried @delfriscos_pgh during @pghrestaurantwk. I like to go to steakhouses during restaurant week because you usually get the starter and dessert for free. I brought my parents this time to treat them to dinner for their upcoming anniversary. See all we ordered below. We enjoyed our meal and I would go back. I want to try some things that aren’t normally offered for Restaurant Week.

The excitement of actually getting the ball in the hole at @puttshack Pittsburgh. I was invited to enjoy food, drinks and mini golf for their 1 year anniversary. I've been to Puttshack a few times since their opening and I really enjoy the courses and the cocktails. This night was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll be back again.

I had dinner at @pusadeesgarden recently for the first time in a long time with @danirovestheworld. This beautiful restaurant serves gorgeous elevated Thai dishes. I know I should not wait this long to eat here again.

Another year and another amazing @barrelandflow! I'm so glad I started attending the voted best beer festival in the US. This incredible festival has an inclusive festival environment and showcasing Black breweries, artists, and small businesses. They bring in Black owned and operated breweries from around the country and they partner local and PA breweries with artists for collaboration. There's great beer, food, music, art and vendors. The people are always so friendly. I love walking around and talking with so many great people and drinking so much amazing beer. The problem is I have so much fun that at a certain point I forget to take photos and videos. I can't wait for next year. This is one event I buy my ticket for as soon as they go on sale.

I partnered with @visiterie to use their Hello Eri

I partnered with @visiterie to use their Hello Erie app to participate in the Unlock Erie Challenge. Unlock Erie has more than 75 Erie attractions separated into three tiers. Using this challenge to discover Erie’s sights and food, you can check in to each location, complete each tier and win prizes. I completed Tier One while I was there to get a deck of Unlock Erie playing cards. Tier Two is a picnic blanket. Tier Three is a Backpack/Cooler. You don’t need to complete the tier in one trip. Since Pittsburgh is only a short drive from Erie you can check into a few places with each visit.
I focused on the following food locations in the app across all the tiers.
• @federalhillsmokehouse to get a plate of smoked meats. Their brisket was amazing.
• @samuraikitchensushi for an incredible dinner of beautifully prepared sushi.
• @ippa_pizza Napoletana at @flagshipcity.foodhall for a delicious pizza using freshly made mozzarella.
• @laverybrewingco for a quick visit.
• @oliversbeergarden to hang out in the sun and listen to live music.
•@olivers_erie to eat Lake Erie Walleye.
• @saraserie is a classic for locals and tourists to get a footlong and a milkshake.

I finally ate at @cafemomentum.pgh. I had dinner with @karen.hoang, @sopheating and @mike.jams and we enjoyed an amazing dinner of well-plated, inspired dishes incorporating fresh local ingredients and rich flavors. Café Momentum not only serves great food, but they are a nationally recognized non-profit. They aim to transform young lives by equipping Pittsburgh’s justice-involved youth with life skills, education, and employment opportunities in the culinary industry.

Snacks:
• Butter and Bread – Focaccia, Sourdough and biscuits with garlic miso butter, Korean gochujang butter and amaretto fig butter
• Charcuterie Board – lamb, duck, pork and various cheeses

Plates:
• NY Strip Steak with chickpea and bacon hash and grilled broccolini
• Hen of the Woods mushrooms with parsnip, butternut squash, and quinoa
• Duck Confit with Herbed Spaetzle and roasted carrots
• Braised Rabbit with black bean cassoulet, turnip, and spicy tomato cabeche

Dessert:

I was so intrigued by the Wok Smashburger at @soba

I was so intrigued by the Wok Smashburger at @soba_pgh I had to try it. It's two four ounce patties, smoked gouda, crispy chili aioli, napa cabbage slaw, tomato, cilantro, and caramelized onions with togarashi tots. This was a totally different mix of flavors that I'm use to but enjoyed it a lot. Especially the smokey flavor of the gouda with the spiciness oh the chili aioli. There was a large group of use so we got a bunch of apps too.

Last month I ate at the @malaysiankitchen_pgh popup and they are popping up again at tonight, August 3 at Novo Asian Food Hall. Each popup features a different Malaysian cuisine and desserts. This month is Ayam Masak Merah, a chicken in a spicy tomato sauce, with pickled veggies and rice. You can also get a variety of different desserts, pandan cake and drinks. Last month the main course was a beef rendang, which is a spicy slow roasted beef stew was so good. Check their account to see how to preorder but you can also get most items when you get there is that are still available.

I visited the @mcdonaldsofthreerivers Big Mac Muse

I visited the @mcdonaldsofthreerivers Big Mac Museum in North Huntington for International Big Mac Day on August 2. That day is Big Mac creator Jim Delligatti’s birthday. Allegheny County also declared it Big Mac Day. This was my first time there and I was so excited to see the giant Big Mac, learn about the creator of the Big Mac and its history, and see lots of great Big Mac memorabilia. Advertising memorabilia is a guilty pleasure of mine. Jim created the Big Mac in Uniontown in 1967 and quickly expanded to McDonald’s nationwide in 1968. Back then, you got a Big Mac for 45 cents, or 29 cents with a newspaper coupon. Since then, the Big Mac has expanded to be sold in over 100 countries.
I also learned how to make the Big Mac from Jim’s son Michael. The Big Mac still consists of the same ingredients of two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. The most interesting part of the process is the applicator used to get a special sauce on the buns. After watching, it was my turn to build my own Big Mac. Although it seems easy, it’s still a talent to be able to make one fast and accurately. My completed Big Mac got the creator’s son’s approval, which is a big deal. It looks great and tasted great too.
