Here’s a little #TBT to @tusseymountain WingFest in @happyvalleypa, Pennsylvania, one Thursday in July 2025 and never posted about. Here is a super cut of me trying every wing and flavor. I had 22 wings in total. You can see my full Tussey Mountain WingFest experience video on my YouTube. Fast forward to 2026, Tussey Mountain is still doing WingFest on Thursdays during the summer. WingFest is a weekly event, weather permitting, with multiple chicken wing vendors and live music. Each week requires an admission ticket to attend, and then you buy strips of one dollar tickets to use to buy wings and drinks. The wings are one dollar each. Included in the admission ticket is live music performed by two bands, including many local Happy Valley favorites, and the ability to vote for your favorite wings of the evening. At the end of the summer, on the last week of WingFest, the winning wing vendors return to compete in the finals. You can learn more about Tussey Mountain WingFest on the Tussey Mountain Website.

I ate at @alewiferva when I was in Richmond for @tbexevents. I wanted to eat at a restaurant with inspired and innovative dishes and cocktails. Alewife features sustainable seafood sourced mostly from the waters in the Mid-Atlantic region where the restaurant is located. It was a delicious and different meal filled with lots of things I don’t normally get to eat, so I’m glad I was able to eat at Alewife.

The Ramen Burger at @bluesparrowpgh is one of my f

The Ramen Burger at @bluesparrowpgh is one of my favorite burgers in Pittsburgh, and it’s on their menu again for a limited time only. Blue Sparrow is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, and every month, they are bringing back a classic menu item. In the early days of @alexeatstoomuch and Blue Sparrow, I used to follow them around so I could get a ramen burger. This special version of it is their best. It’s an all beef burger made with bacon jam, pickled hibiscus onions, crispy cheddar, and a ramen bun. This is on the menu through July, and then it will make occasional popup appearances after that. The burger can be found for now at the @bluesparrowbus parked at @dancinggnome Beer.

#AD Here at Alex Eats Too Much, my credit card rewards helped me pay for my restaurant and travel experiences I’ve shared with all of you. Today, I’m partnering with @thepointsguy because there is a chance that credit card rewards, as we know them, could go away. There are bills in the Pennsylvania Legislature that could harm how you earn rewards on these credit cards, like cash back, points, and credits, and complicate how credit card transactions work overall. Keep listening and see the video description to learn more.

I know I don’t want to lose out on my credit card rewards. The Pennsylvania Legislature is considering House Bill (HB) 2090 and Senate Bill (SB) 1202, which would prohibit interchange on the sales tax portion of transactions paid by credit or debit card. Interchange is a fee paid by merchants, not customers, when you use a credit card.

You might be asking why this is a big deal. This could complicate how a credit card purchase can be made in Pennsylvania only.

An interchange fee is a global standard for all credit card transactions. Changing how an interchange fee can be applied to a purchase could mean:
• A purchase will take longer since it won’t be one quick charge
• Small businesses might have to make multiple transactions or not be able to accept credit cards anymore
• Credit card transactions in Pennsylvania will work differently than anywhere else in the world
• You may have to pay sales tax by cash or check

And now you are probably wondering how this impacts earning those credit card points you use for rewards? Credit Card companies use those interchange fees to fund the points programs.

Earning fewer points and rewards means:
• Less cash back on your purchases
• Longer to earn points toward travel rewards
• Fewer reward offerings

I was at the @cpartsfestival for the first time in over 15 years! #partner
Last time I was in State College for Arts Fest, I had just graduated from college, and I was definitely in town for reasons other than the art. I’m so glad I attended the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts now that I’m older. I saw so much great art, listened to fantastic performances and had a great time in State College.

Arts Fest highlights:
- 300+ artists and street vendors in the sidewalk sale and exhibition. I purchased beautiful clay flowers for my desk.
- Musical performances all day, every day. I stopped by quite a few throughout the days.
- Local Food Vendors. I got some fantastic bites across the whole festival.

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts usually takes place every year from Wednesday to Sunday after the July 4th holiday.

I ate at @zaytinya while I was in Washington, D.C.

I ate at @zaytinya while I was in Washington, D.C. Zaytinya is a Mediterranean restaurant in the José Andrés group, focusing on small plates meant for sharing and allowing guests to try more items. I was most excited for the seared halloumi with sour cherries, the beef soutzoukakia, and lamb Baharat. @chefjoseandres is also a philanthropist, running @wckitchen, providing meals in devastated and war-torn locations. Zaytinya was another fantastic meal at a Jose Andres restaurant, and I always look forward to eating at more restaurants in the group.

I stayed at @watergatehotel in Washington DC. This is a 4 Star Midcentury Modern hotel where I slept great and ate great too. The Watergate Hotel is best known for the 1970s scandal, but it should also be known as a classy 4-star hotel within the Watergate Complex. It was originally designed to be a city within a city with offices, apartments, a hotel, a mall, and more. My hotel room had a fantastic river view, an incredibly comfortable king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with a giant walk-in shower and a toilet with a bidet, and plenty of space to spread out. I decided to stay there because it is part of the Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit collection, offering credit back, a hotel credit, a room upgrade, and free breakfast. I basically got a night free and 3 meals free. And those breakfasts are the hotel restaurant @kingbird_restaurant were fantastic.

This is also not sponsored. It was just a cool experience staying here and getting a great deal. Credit cards with great rewards pay off.

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is taking place this year in State College on July 9-12. Last time I was in State College for Arts Fest, I had just graduated college, and I was definitely in town for reasons other than the art. Now I'm back and getting to explore Arts Fest for all the great things it offers.

Arts Fest highlights:
- 300+ artists and street vendors in the sidewalk sale and exhibition
- Musical performances all day, everyday
- Local Food Vendors

I'll be here all weekend having fun seeing all the art, watching the concerts and eating all the food.

We went out to @arlecchinoristorante_ the other night for a giant meal to celebrate my dad's birthday. I think we've decided this is our favorite place for a special occasion. This restaurant has a large menu and larger portions of great Italian food. It's the sister restaurant of @allafamiglia, offering many of the same many items. We like it a little more because the restaurant is a little more open and bright. My veal chop was amazing as always and I think everyone was happy with their meals.

New Blog Post! On my recent trip to Washington DC and Virginia I decided to rely on Bus (@greyhoundlines) and train (@amtrak) rather than driving. There were some benefits like saving money and some issues like multiple delays. Read about it on my blog.

In June, I attended @beersoftheburgh at the Carrie Furnace. This festival is a showcase of the Pittsburgh area craft beer and beverage scene. It's become one of my favorite events every year. The day has over 30 craft breweries, several food trucks, live music and DJs, and a vendor market. This year they even had a variety of non-alcoholic beverages to sample. It should definitely be on any beer lover's list to attend.

I just spent some time in Washington DC. I was so excited to be a tourist and see the memorials and monuments that should off the United States. I was still awestruck by the size of these monuments. Unfortunately, I was also excited to see a green reflecting pool. I know not everyone is excited to visit DC lately. There's a lot of nonsense going on there right now. But with Independence Day and America 250, I'd like to think this is just a blip in this nation's great history.

I still cannot get over my FAM visit to @visitwilliamsburg to see colonial Virginia at @colonialwmsburg, @jyfmuseums and @visityorktown! The American history nerd in me from high school loved seeing all this history come alive. I still have so much to share, but here's a little recap of the 3 days learning about two of the earliest colonies in the Americas and the revolutionary battle which lead to the end of the revolutionary war. I can't wait to visit again.

This was some of the best BBQ I’ve eaten. I ate at @zzqrva Texas Craft Barbeque in @visitrichmondva, while I had a free day during the @tbexevents North America conference. When I told anyone from Virginia I was planning to eat here, they all told me it was the best barbecue in the state. ZZQ was started in 2013 by the owners Chris and Alex, with an obsession to produce perfectly smoked meats and delicious sides. This will be a must visit for me on a return trip to Richmond, and maybe even return trips to Virginia as a whole.

I just experienced so much colonial history hosted by @visitwilliamsburg just in time for the 250th birthday!
I spent 3 days on a tour through Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown learning about two of the earliest colonies in the Americas and then the revolutionary battle which lead to the end of the revolutionary war. I can't wait to go back to experience more of the past while also seeing some of the new things Williamsburg does.

This statue of Pocahontas stands at the Historic Jamestown site. Here the @jrarchaeology team is uncovering the history and teaching about the events of the Jamestown colony.

Jamestown Glasshouse at @colonialnps shows how glass was blown in colonial times. Items can be purchased to benefit the National Historic Site.

These boats show what it was like to travel the river here at the Jamestown Settlement Living History Museum (@jyfmuseums)

We got to stay at the @stayrochambeau, a renovated roadside motel that now has all the modern luxuries. I got a great night's sleep here.

We dined the first evening at Guiseppe's Italian (@pasta_for_life). This is a local Williamsburg favorite serving traditional Italian dishes. I got the Veal Josephine, which was delicious. My shirt thought so too.

We saw @colonialwmsburg via @williamsburgwalkingtours. Our guide, Trish, gave us lots of great info about how the town of Williamsburg was built, changed hands and restored over the years.

We ate lunch at @cheeseshopva in @merchantssquare. This is a top noche cheese shop with a full wine bar. I was so impressed by the flavor of the cheddar on my sandwich.

I was standing in front of the recreation of the original governor's mansion in @colonialwmsburg before it was burned down and the capitol was moved to Richmond.

The Cook interpretation at @colonialwmsburg shows what it was like to prepare a full meal in colonial times. I missed the preparation but it can take hours. They also make enough food for 3 meals: dinner, supper and breakfast. They do it all over again the next day.

I just spent 5 great days in @visitrichmondva for the @tbexevents North America conference. This was my first time in Richmond and attending TBEX. Both were great experiences. I spent a lot of time seeing and eating my way through Richmond and @visithanoverva. The conference was incredibly valuable, getting to meet so many great people and learn so much in the conference sessions. I'm definitely going to attend another TBEX and I'd love to visit Richmond again to keep eating my way through the city.

Also, Pat Benatar apparently started her career in Richmond, VA. Who knew?

If you've been following me a long time, you'd know I used to eat @wisecountybiscuits a lot. This week for an Alex Eats Too Much Favorites #tbt I'm highlighting some of the biscuits I've eaten over the years and meals friends and family have gotten. I used to follow Wise County Biscuits around to farmers markets to get great biscuit sandwiches and sausage gravy and biscuits. It was awesome to see them open up the cafe and North Side and expand their menu to offer more southern style breakfasts and comfort food. I might not go out for breakfast a lot, but they are always one of my favorite options.
